ASIAN Yarn Evenness Tester is a kind of Yarn Testing Equipment which is used to measures the yarn appearance on boards. Manual and motorized models are available. The system consists of a yarn wrap board and an arrangement to wrap the yarn over it at equal spacing under the desired tension. The board is rotated manually to wrap the yarn over it the yarn is guided on the board through a yarn guide which moves parallel to the pivoting axis of the board with the help of a screw giving uniformly spaced wraps. The guide is positively linked off the rotation of the board with the help of a chain and sprocket drive. A set of change gears gives five different spacing to the yarn for wrapping yarn of different counts. A spring loaded adjustable tensioning arrangement provides the desired tension to the yarn. The equipment is built on a rigid castled base. It is finished in dark gray painting and bright chrome/zinc plating to give it a corrosion resistant finish. Two numbers rectangular acrylic boards having one face white and the other face black to enable evaluation of both light and dark colored yarns are supplied as a standard accessory. Additional boards, both rectangular and tapered are available as optional accessories.

The system consists of a set of clamps, one of which rotating and the other fixed. The rotating clamp is driven by hand through a speed increasing arrangement (by the motor in the motor operated model) and a five digit resettable revolution counter (digital counter in motor operated) to count the number of twists. The fixed clamp is pivoted on jewel bearings and carries off a pendulum arm having a sliding weight to give the desired tension to the yarn. The fixed clamp assembly can be moved over a guide bar for setting the required test length of yarn which is indicated on a strip scale fixed to base against a pointer attached to the moving assembly. A viewing plate and a magnifying glass are provided for accurate determination of the end point. A dissecting needle for ascertaining complete removal of twist is supplied as a standard accessory with the equipment. The various components are fixed on a rigid base strength and durability. Wrap Reel is offered in both motor or hand operated models. Metric and imperial models are available. The system is used for making the lead, used for yarn strength, count measurement, and length measurement. The yarn is spread uniformly in a band of 20mm as the lead is formed. Up to 5 legs can be formed at one time. One of the arms of the reel can be docked to facilitate the removal of the lead from the reel. The number of turns is indicated on a counter. In the case of motor operated wrap reel, a fractional horsepower motor controlled by a pre-set digital counter is provided to give the movement to the reel. An electromagnetic brake is provided to stop the movement of the reel almost instantaneously to reduce the chances of over travel. The wrap reel is mounted over a fabricated thick steel sheet base plate. Bobbins of up to 100 mm diameter and 250 mm length can be mounted on the base plate. The yarn taken up from the bobbins is guided over a hook and is spread uniformly with the help of pigtail yarn guides. The guides move through a distance of 20 mm once very sixteen turns to give a lead of 20 mm width. The standard wrap reel is suitable for making either imperial or metric leads composite wrap reel which can make either of the two types of the lead with the help of an additional reel is also available.
